First and foremost, we're car people!!
In 2025, David (The founder of Element 611) was restoring one of his cars and was unable to locate new motor mounts for it. Searching globally netted zero results because the car he was restoring was no longer supported by it's manufacturer, nor was it supported by the aftermarket. This meant either waiting to find NOS mounts, buy polyurethane inserts to put in the original mounts or custom make a set of new motor mounts. David didn't like any of those choices. Who knows how long it would take to find NOS mounts. He didn't want to use polyurethane inserts because the car he was restoring is a street car, so poly bushings would be too hard and transmit too much NVH (Noise Vibration and harshness) into the cabin of the car. And, as this was a restoration, custom mounts were also not really an option either.
This begged the question, is it possible to restore the original mounts?
Serious research went into rubber hardness, availability of suitable rubber, ways to cleanly remove the old rubber and even the possibility of 3D printing mount inserts.... (Note: Beware of 3D printed inserts, they are made of plastic and cannot withstand the heat under the hood of a car. They become brittle and degrade very quickly). After experimenting with various rubber offerings from several suppliers, David finally found a supplier capable of supplying a suitable product in a number of hardness's that could be used in the remanufacturing of OE motor mounts.
The challenges of restoring original motor mounts:
We figured it out!
With all of the above challenges overcome. We have developed a repeatable way of getting the old rubber out, restoring the mount housing and putting the new rubber in. So why not offer this service to other folks that have failed mounts for cars that are unsupported by the OEM or aftermarket? That's exactly what we're doing. Got something with a motor that has failed mounts? Drop us a line, we're here to help.
What's with the name Element 611?
It's pronounced "Element Six Eleven".
Originally we planned to call the business Element 7 because a lot of Nitrogen (atomic #7) is used in the production of rubber. However, the internet was awash with Element 7 and Nitrogen references, but we still liked the Element portion of the name. The number 611 came about through the numerology term "611 angel number", which we liked because it represents new and exciting opportunities, so we went with Element 611.
